What should you do?

Maintain a controlled speed and follow the temporary lane markings as the lane returns. Check mirrors and surrounding traffic, but do not treat the bend in the arrow as an instruction to overtake or make an immediate lane change.

How to recognise it

It is an orange diamond with a black offset arrow bending back towards the original lane alignment.

Common confusion

The back sign is the return movement. The out sign appears earlier where the lane first leaves its normal carriageway.
