Stop

Stop

You must come to a complete stop at the stop line before entering the junction, even if the road looks clear.

Regulatory Traffic Signs

What should you do?

Stop fully with the wheels stationary at the line, look both ways properly, and only move off when you can join without making anyone slow or swerve.

How to recognise it

A red octagon with the word STOP in white capital letters.

Common confusion

Unlike a Yield sign, a Stop sign requires a full stop every time; rolling through slowly at a Stop line is a common driving test fault.
