Maximum gross weight (traffic management)

Maximum gross weight (traffic management)

Vehicles heavier than the gross weight shown (here 7.5 tonnes) are not permitted on this road.

Regulatory Traffic Signs

What should you do?

If you drive a heavy vehicle over the stated weight, find another route; car drivers can continue but may notice a diversion signed for heavy vehicles.

How to recognise it

A red ring containing a black lorry with 7.5t written on its body, with no diagonal bar.

Common confusion

It is different from the weight-based No entry for large vehicles sign, which has a red diagonal bar through the lorry.
