T-junction

T-junction

Warns that the road you are on ends ahead at a T-junction, where you must turn left or right.

Junction Signs

What should you do?

Slow down early, pick your lane and signal, and be prepared to stop or yield to traffic on the road you are joining.

How to recognise it

Yellow diamond with a black upside-down T shape: a vertical stem meeting a horizontal bar across the top.

Common confusion

Unlike the side road sign, the line does not continue past the junction, so going straight ahead is not possible.

Explanation written by the My Driving Test editorial team using the Department of Transport Traffic Signs Manual conventions and the RSA Rules of the Road.
