What should you do?

Do not enter the restricted road if any axle exceeds the displayed limit. Use a suitable alternative route rather than relying only on the vehicle's total weight.

How to recognise it

It is a red-bordered white circular sign showing an axle symbol above a weight in tonnes.

Common confusion

Maximum axle weight applies to each individual axle. Maximum gross weight is a separate restriction that applies to the vehicle's total design gross weight.
