Height restriction

Height restriction

Vehicles taller than the height shown, here 4.65 metres, must not pass.

Regulatory Traffic Signs

What should you do?

Know the height of your vehicle, including any roof load, and if it is above the figure, stop and use another route.

How to recognise it

A red-ringed circle with 4.65m in the middle and black triangles pointing in from the top and bottom.

Common confusion

This is a regulatory limit; the separate advance information sign for low bridges is rectangular and only gives warning of clearances ahead.

Explanation written by the My Driving Test editorial team using the Department of Transport Traffic Signs Manual conventions and the RSA Rules of the Road.
