Turn left

Turn left

You must turn left here; going straight on or right is not allowed.

Mandatory Turns at Junctions

What should you do?

Signal and take the left turn at this point, checking for cyclists and pedestrians on your left.

How to recognise it

A blue disc with a white horizontal arrow pointing to the left.

Common confusion

The horizontal arrow means turn now; the bent arrow version means the turn is at the junction ahead.

Explanation written by the My Driving Test editorial team using the Department of Transport Traffic Signs Manual conventions and the RSA Rules of the Road.
