Turn left ahead

Turn left ahead

You must turn left at the junction ahead.

Mandatory Turns at Junctions

What should you do?

Check mirrors, signal left in good time and position near the left of your lane ready to make the turn.

How to recognise it

A blue disc with a white arrow going straight up and bending left at the top.

Common confusion

It is different from the 'Turn left' sign with a straight horizontal arrow, which is placed at the junction itself.

Explanation written by the My Driving Test editorial team using the Department of Transport Traffic Signs Manual conventions and the RSA Rules of the Road.
