Merging/diverging traffic

Merging/diverging traffic

Warns that traffic from a slip road or another lane will merge with, or split from, the main road ahead.

General Warning Signs

What should you do?

Watch for vehicles joining from the side shown, adjust speed and position to let traffic merge safely, and avoid changing lanes at the last moment.

How to recognise it

Yellow diamond with a straight black vertical line and a diagonal line joining it from the side.

Common confusion

Unlike the side road sign, the joining line meets at a shallow angle, showing traffic blending in rather than turning out of a junction.
