Move into the right-hand lane

Move into the right-hand lane

The lane ahead is closing and you must move into the lane on your right.

Traffic Lane Signs

What should you do?

Check mirrors and blind spot, signal right and merge smoothly into the right-hand lane.

How to recognise it

A black square with four amber corner lamps and a green arrow pointing diagonally down to the right.

Common confusion

The direction of the diagonal arrow shows which lane to move into; don't confuse it with the left-pointing version.

Explanation written by the My Driving Test editorial team using the Department of Transport Traffic Signs Manual conventions and the RSA Rules of the Road.
