Town or village sign

Town or village sign

A sign marking the name of the town or village you are entering, in Irish and English.

Advance Direction Signs

What should you do?

Expect lower speed limits, pedestrians and junctions as you enter the built-up area.

How to recognise it

A green rectangle with white text, the Irish name Dún na nGall in italics above DONEGAL.

Common confusion

The name sign itself is not a speed limit sign, so look out for the separate speed limit sign at the town boundary.

Explanation written by the My Driving Test editorial team using the Department of Transport Traffic Signs Manual conventions and the RSA Rules of the Road.
