Test Day Checklist

A last-minute checklist before leaving home and before the test begins.

Why This Matters

This is the highest-value Useful guide because it reduces avoidable stress and preventable issues before the tester even enters the car.

Before Leaving Home

  • Bring your learner permit and check it is valid.
  • Leave with enough time so you are not mentally rushed before the test starts.
  • Wear something comfortable enough to drive calmly and naturally.
  • Bring glasses or lenses if you need them for driving.

Car Ready Check

  • Make sure you can prove you are insured to drive the vehicle used for the test.
  • Check fuel level is not low.
  • Check lights, indicators and brake lights are working.
  • Check tyres look roadworthy and not obviously damaged.
  • Check mirrors are clean and adjustable.
  • Check L-plates are fitted correctly.

When You Arrive

  • Park neatly and give yourself a minute to settle.
  • Keep permit and any key documents easy to reach.
  • Do not rush because you saw other learners going in first.
  • Treat the first few minutes as part of the test atmosphere, not dead time.

Your Outcome

The learner can quickly confirm they, their documents and their car are ready.
